Parent Discussion

Today your child learned about the Bible story called Jesus Calms the Storm. During his time on earth, Jesus did many miracles to show us his love and power. And one thing that I know is true is that just like Jesus took care of the disciples in that storm, he takes care of us in every storm, too. And I’m not just talking about weather storms. I’m talking about life storms – you know, the things that happen in our lives that just seem out of control, we don’t like, or are different from what we planned.

Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s Bible story and remember the Big Idea: Jesus takes care of me in every storm!

1. Why were Jesus’ friends, the disciples, scared?
2. What was Jesus doing during the storm?
3. What did Jesus do that showed the disciples he did care?
4. How was Jesus able to stop the storm?
5. The disciples were in a weather storm, but we might experience other life “storms” that make us feel scared or out of control like arguments, trouble at school, sickness, big changes, or anything you’re afraid of! How can Jesus take care of you when you’re in a life storm?
