This week, we are learning about when Jesus called himself the resurrection and the life. Jesus said this when He was comforting Mary and Martha when Lazarus had died. Mary, Martha and their friends believed in Jesus’ power to heal and believed that He was the Saviour. Even though Jesus knew Lazarus will sick, He did not go to Bethany right away. Jesus wanted to grow Mary and Martha’s faith. He wanted them to see God’s ultimate power through the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead.
Resurrection means bring back to life. Jesus had the power to bring Lazarus back to life after he died! When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” He was saying He is the source of both. Our Bible story teaches us that there is no resurrection without Jesus and there is no eternal life without Him. Jesus wants to spend eternal life with us. He wants to spend forever with us heaven.
