Parent Discussion

This week we looked at the last piece in the Armour of God the Sword of the Spirit, which is God’s Word. So far in our series, each piece of the Armour of God has been given to us as a protection, but the Sword of the Spirit is the one thing God gives us to actively fight the enemy, Satan. We can use the Bible to fill our hearts and minds with thoughts and desires of Christ. When we are equipped with His Word, we draw closer to God and can make decisions that align with His desires for us. We can defeat Satan by memorising and meditating on God’s Word. We use the Sword of the Spirit when we read the Bible, think about what it means and then do what it says. Discuss the following questions with your child sometime this week:

1. Do you remember your memory verse for this week?
2. Why is it important to read and remember verses from the Bible?
3. What is the Sword of the Spirit and how can you use it?
