Read (20 mins):

Read Genesis 17

What does Abraham need to do to fulfill his side of the covenant? What does God need to do to fulfill His side of the covenant?

In what way does Abraham contribute to bringing about covenant blessings? Why do you think it’s important for him (and the covenant partners who follow) to actively participate in the covenant?

We no longer participate in the old covenant, but in the new covenant which was instituted with the death and resurrection of Jesus. How do we actively participate in the new covenant? Where do you see similarities and differences between the two covenants? (Rom 2:28-29, Eph 2:8-10 may help, but there are many other places that speak of the new covenant)

What marks you as one who belongs to the new covenant? Where do you see signs of ambiguity (of belonging) in your life?

Respond (20 mins):

Spend a few minutes in personal reflection. What is the Holy Spirit impressing on your heart? (3 mins)

Take time to share how the Holy Spirit is challenging you. How can you be accountable to each other? Consider keeping a record for the purposes of prayer and accountability. (12 mins)

Pray for each other. (5 mins)
